Kylani and Gian met very briefly in freshman year of high school but after some personal circumstances, Kylani moved away from Miami and Gian always wondered where she had gone. You might be thinking, here we go, typical high school sweethearts; Except it was anything but typical. Fast forward two years later, she was back! Gian never formally introduced himself to her but he was pretty charismatic towards her. Kylani would often come into Gian's English class to do a book review. This was where Gian started to really notice her. They then found out about an Open Mic Night that their English teacher ( shout out to Mr. Hill!) was hosting (a place which they marked as a favorite and created many memories at) and they both opted in to going. Kylani the singer, and Gian the guitarist. It was almost perfect. A week prior to this, Gian was pushed by a classmate to ask Kylani out and he did. They both agreed on watching a movie Friday night since Open Mic was the night before. Because of miscommunication, they never went out that Friday even though Kylani was fully prepared to. But out of understanding, they rescheduled. Unbeknownst to them, that Thursday night was going to be the beginning of their wonderful relationship. Kylani sang Ave Maria by Beyonce, and Gian sang Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran (you'll see the significance of this song in an upcoming story). Soon after, we were introduced to our now home church and everything stared to change for the good. We officially started dating and sought out a genuine relationship that would grow in Christlikeness amidst the surrounding test and challenge that comes with that. Gian and I could not not see or forecast the plans that The Lord had for us but were and still are willing to walk in faith and obedience according to His good and perfect will for us. And it doesn't stop at us!

Gian and Kylani made five years together on May 12th, 2022. To celebrate their five years of dating, Gian made a reservation to a high end restaurant and told Kylani to "wear something nice," how cliché. Five years together, a rooftop dinner, love was in the air (lol), the scene was perfect. Gian HAD to propose. This is crazy, but he didn't. At least not that night. Earlier, he came up with a plan to get down on one knee to "tie his shoelaces" but as the hour was drawing near, he chickened out. He saw the look in Kylani's eyes. The look that said "I am yours forever, I'm just waiting for you to ask me." Gian never went through with the proposal. The dinner was great, the night was amazing, but it was supposed to be disguised as a swerve. There was an even greater proposal planned out. Gian reached out to friends and family weeks beforehand, inviting them to the place where he and Kylani have grown the most. A place where they can sincerely call home, New Beginnings Church. He explained to them that this is where he was going to propose, right after leading in worship. Kylani had no idea what was going to happen. After the last song, Gian invited the congregation to join him in singing "one more song," this caught Kylani by surprise. Gian then explained that the song was not for the congregation, but rather, it was for Kylani. He then turned to her, sang Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran, and asked her to marry him. She said yes!
