Adam and Theresa first met Memorial Day weekend of 2019, at the Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls, Idaho. Adam was getting back into BASE jumping after a motorcycle accident, and Theresa was refining her BASE skills as a new jumper. After a very poor, but safe, handheld jump, Theresa landed on the opposite side of the Snake River from the landing area (she stood it up!) Adam, already in the landing area after a well-executed, textbook BASE jump, recognized she may need some assistance, grabbed a canoe that was staged in the LZ and began to paddle towards her to help her out of her predicament. The first conversation the two ever exchanged was “Hey do you need a ride?” “No!!” After this response Adam quickly turned the canoe around and left her to figure out her situation. Theresa, frustrated at her performance and wanting to solve the problem she had created on her own, proceeded to pack up her parachute and climb the underside of the bridge back to the correct side of the Snake River. Adam watched her climb out from the hiking path and immediately took notice of this tiny, stubborn, blonde chick. While he found Theresa to be slightly stand-offish (“you cool guyed me” as he puts it) and Theresa thought Adam was slightly cocky, out of shape and probably couldn’t do the gainers he kept talking about, the two exchanged Instagrams anyways and stayed in touch via the app. Smash cut, 2022, they reunited at the Arizona BASE boogie and the 22 Jumps Camelback event in Phoenix, Arizona. Both fresh off breakups and after a jump filled weekend, they exchanged numbers to keep in touch. Adam, taking the initiative, called Theresa on the drive home. The true tell of where the relationship was headed was when Theresa invited Adam to join a group on a ultralight BASE jumping trip and he immediately said yes, after already saying no to John Lavan and Chris Carnahan who invited him on the same trip. On that trip Theresa learned Adam was still cocky, but quite skilled at BASE jumping, smart, and very sweet. Adam learned that Theresa was intelligent, funny, kind and independent. Theresa proceeded to vet Adam for a few more weeks, and after getting a big thumbs up from family and close friends, the two finally started dating, and the rest is history!

Adam proposed to Theresa after a BASE jump at one of their favorite jump locations, Torrey Pines, in San Diego, CA. Adam snuck away to San Diego a few weeks earlier to ask both of Theresa’s parents for their blessing and began initial planning. He arranged for all sorts of people to be present for the proposal. On the day, ten jumpers showed up to join them on the cliff, while family and friends hid in the bushes down below on the beach. Adam jumped before Theresa, and once she safely landed he was down on one knee asking for her hand before she even had time to stow her brakes. She said “Yes!” All jumpers landed safely and champagne was shared on the beach with great company. And then the WE’RE GETTING MARRIED festivities began!
