See where Alex grew up and spent her summers working from ages 12 to 22 (among other notable accomplishments she wrote the script for the pirate boat and was the best first mate the OC Rocket has ever seen). There are boat rides for all ages. We have reserved a limited number of spots for rides on Friday and Saturday. Please call the ticket booth at 410-289-3500 and ask about reserved spots for the Lewis-Berkey wedding. For general information about the boats and times, please call the ticket booth at 410-289-3500.
Just after Labor Day is one of the best times to be in Ocean City. The weather still feels like summer (sometimes a little too much like summer), the ocean is still warm and the crowds are gone. The beaches are free in Ocean City but parking rarely is. We recommend going to the beach near your hotel or other accommodations or in the 35th to 37th Street area. This beach is right in front of the Castle in the Sand Hotel and just a block or two from plenty of free parking at the Convention Center if you can't find anything on the street. Plus, the Castle in the Sand owns the land itself and offers waitress service on the beach!
If you want to spend more time with the wild ponies on Assateague, drive south down Route 611 and enter the park. There's a small fee and most of the island is without lifeguards, but Assateague is still a local favorite.
The Boardwalk is one of Ocean City's biggest attractions. Go for a morning jog, rent a surrey with friends and hit up the rides at Trimper's and on the Pier. Don't leave without shelling out for Thrasher's famous french fries or an Atlantic Stand burger. You won't regret it.
Home of the Original Orange Crush. Harborside is a local's favorite dive bar but it has more than ice cold beer and delicious Orange Crushes. Stop by for lunch and try one of their seafood inspired menu items, like the Ahi Tuna Wrap or the classic Eastern Shore fried flounder sandwich.
Crab(cake)s and football - that's what Maryland does (Note from Blake: Ohio is much better at football)! If you want to try some of the famous Maryland blue crabs while you're in town, we recommend the Crab Bag or Crab Alley. Call around and ask for the prices that day. Crabs are usually priced by the dozen, half bushel and bushel and prices vary by size (medium, large, jumbo). If you need someone to teach you how to pick a crab, Alex's Dad has the speech down pat or you can watch the nice ladies in Crisfield show you how it's done here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f96bRGmorps.
Ocean City has several golf courses with sweeping bay views from the course. The Ocean City Golf and Yacht Club and the Links at Lighthouse Sound offer some of the best views from the course.
