Gerald and Alli met the traditional modern way, through an online dating app, in the middle of a pandemic. Their mutual fandom of the Detroit Tigers initially connected them, virtually. Gerald and Alli went on their first date on July 12th, 2020, a picnic in the woods. As they were hiking through the woods of Rotary Park, it felt as though lightning had struck, and Alli knew then and there, that Gerald was the one for her. Gerald and Alli love to travel and explore new places and cultures. Their favorite country to visit together is Costa Rica, and they have traveled there twice now. Costa Rica was their first international trip together in October of 2021 to participate in Volcanic, an ultimate frisbee tournament that takes place near the Arenal Volcano. Fast forward to May 27th, 2023, at the very same tournament in Costa Rica, little did Alli know, when Gerald threw her a honey point (for our non-ultimate friends, this is when an assist is thrown from one significant other to the other for a score), that he was planning all along to propose! Alli and Gerald knew early on that they wanted to incorporate their love for travel in their wedding day. It was a dream of theirs to have a destination wedding, but also wanted a venue where their fur baby, Luna, could be a part of the celebrations as well. They found their perfect match at Mission Point on Mackinac Island, the ultimate destination spot of their home state of Michigan!
