We became best friends working together as coaches at Trinity College. Our group of young coaches, which exclusively included Katy Dissinger and Kurt Von Bargen, was inseparable. We worked closely in our office cubicles and we laughed through long hours and hung out every night. Geoff told Katy and Kurt how much he liked Shannon, which of course meant Shannon knew. It took over 6 months to tell Shannon how he felt, but when he finally did, the rest is history! :)
We are excited to have you at our Ceremony at Our Lady Queen of Peace. Growing up vacationing in Maine, Shannon has always loved the white church right on the water. When she discovered it was a catholic church she knew she wanted to get married there. Geoff was sold when he saw photos of JFK attending mass there in 1962 (Check out "Photos"). Look out for the plaque, which identifies where he sat for mass!
To commemorate a very important moment in our relationship, Geoff proposed on Memorial Day Weekend on the beach in Nantucket during his Brown University Reunion. Five years earlier we were in Rhode Island on Memorial Day Weekend with Geoff's Brown friends for Reunion, and we were at crossroads in our relationship. Shannon was offered a job to coach for Nicky Pearson at Bowdoin (which she would never pass up) and Geoff was figuring out where he wanted to coach next, possibly an O.C. job in New Jersey. We took a walk and sat out on the rocks overlooking the water. We decided in that conversation then we wanted to do life together, and Geoff made the decision to move to Maine- not an easy choice from Texas! We lived in Portland and Brunswick and had a blast - we hope you'll check out the state that is so important to our relationship!
