Flight

La Aurora International Airport

Aurora is the main airport in Guatemala City, this is a great airport to land and explore the capital city including the new Cuidad Cayala neighborhood. It is a short 1.5 hrs drive away from one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country, Antigua Guatemala. A trip from the city will be around 3.5 hrs to Panajachel where the wedding will take place near Lake Atitlan.

Aeropuerto Internacional de Occidente (Los Altos)

For an airport that will be a bit shorter of a drive to the wedding location, a domestic flight from Guatemala City Aurora Airport can be boarded on weekdays at 9:20 AM arriving in Quetzaltenango (Xela, the second largest city in Guatemala) at 10:20 AM. On weekends the flight leaves earlier, at 8:30 AM. Note that there is only one flight per day. This airport would be a 2 hrs drive to Panajachel. Aeropuerto Internacional de Occidente

Public Transit/Rideshare

Uber is widely used in Guatemala City and is a very economical way to get around. Public Transit (Camionetas) will be cash only.

Credit Cards

While most places in the touristy parts of the country will take major credit cards, having cash will come in handy when trying to buy items at local markets and artisanal vendors. Street food snacks will also be cash only and some restaurants may be cash only.
