Our Story
Ivan and Gena first met in the fall of 2014 at Benedictine University, where Ivan had just begun his freshman year and befriended Gena’s sister, Angie. Through this friendship, Ivan and Gena met and felt instant chemistry. Over the course of the following year and many weekends at Ben U, they spent more time together and fell in love. Gena fell for Ivan’s infectious laughter and laid back attitude. For Ivan, it was Gena’s confident, caring and fun-loving personality. They found that their differences kept them balanced as a couple, while their shared values for family, humor and honesty deepened their connection. After four years together, Ivan proposed to Gena on July 4th, 2020. The engagement ring was designed with Gena in mind, featuring diamonds passed down from her grandmother. It’s a timeless piece that honors the past while holding all the promise of an exciting future ahead. The ceremony will take place at the same church where Gena’s parents were married in 1978.
