The airport in Florence is very small, and early morning flights often change due to fog. Flights into Bologna or Pisa are about a 45-60 minute train ride to Florence. Driving via taxi or rental will take roughly 1.5 hours. Rome, as another option, will take 90 minutes via high-speed train or 3 hours via taxi or rental.

We do not have any room blocks, but wanted to give some suggestions of centrally located hotels. WHY WE CHOSE THIS: Suggested by our wedding planner- This hotel is approximately a 9 minute walk to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and priced at approximately $250 a night. The cozy lounges are elegantly decorated with antiques and original paintings which create an intimate and stylish ambience. The frescoes that decorate the ceilings of all common areas make of Palazzo dal Borgo a 4 star hotel, unique and endowed with the most typical florentine charm.

We do not have any room blocks, but wanted to give some suggestions of centrally located hotels. WHY WE CHOSE THIS: Suggested by Alex's cousin Beth. She frequents Florence and this her favorite place to stay- This hotel is approximately a 10 minute walk to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and is located on the river. It is approximately $250 a night. The views are stunning and has a great rooftop. The Hotel Berchielli is distinguished by its rooms, one of which faces directly on the Lungarno degli Acciaiuoli, the river bank that connects the Ponte Vecchio with Ponte Santa Trinita on the right shore, in the historic heart of the capital and laterally on the small Piazza del Limbo, home to the oldest sacred building in the city: the Santissimi Apostoli Church. Also a short walk from here can bring you to the main Santa Maria Novella train station and the other most visited tourist destinations of the city.

WHY WE CHOSE THIS: This is centrally located and an 6 minute walk to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, and is approximately $350-$375 a night. It is well placed within easy suitcase-wheeling distance of Santa Maria Novella station and only a few minutes' walk from the bustling, central market area in the heart of Florence. It is housed in a 19th-century building, in which past and present coexist, bearing of the values inherent to Florentine tradition. It also has a gorgeous rooftop garden for dining and cocktails with a view!

WHY WE CHOSE THIS: Suggested by our travel agent and eligible to receive VIP upgrades per her booking site (see information in the travel notes above). Priced at approximately $459 a night. The Hotel Bernini Palace is approximately an 8 minute walk to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore for reference. It is situated in a 15th century building in the heart of the city, behind Piazza della Signoria and the Uffizi Gallery. It is also just six minutes from Via Tornabuoni, the most famous shopping street. It also offers a bar lounge for cocktails, a restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel, and a buffet lounge where breakfast is served daily.

WHY WE CHOSE THIS: This is centrally located and an 8 minute walk to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, and is approximately $625 a night for non-hyatt members. IL Tornabuoni Hotel is located within one of the oldest and most prestigious palaces of Florence, which dates back to the 13th century, and is located on the most famous shopping street. The rooms and restaurants pays tribute to the colors and furnishings of the Renaissance, and give life to the characters, stories and artistic magnificence between ancient and modern.
