We're getting married!

Gabe and Pat met at an inpatient Psychiatric hospital in Seattle in 2016. Pat came up to Gabe's unit on his first day, excited to confirm plans for everyone to go bowling at Garage in Capitol Hill after the shift ended. He had just moved from Ohio and they immediately bonded over Midwest small talk. Pat was embarrassed he bowled poorly that night, but was understandably distracted. Over the next year or so, they always found ways to talk at work and watch out for each other. Whenever Pat was floated to Gabe's unit, he was especially vigilant and famously prevented her injury/assault on more than one occasion. He also displayed incredible strength when he volunteered to act as a patient while Gabe and her teammates practiced seclusion and restraint techniques (she notes this was far more difficult than most actual patients). The summer before Pat attended Graduate school (and unceremoniously quit working at the hospital), Gabe shared her extensive knowledge of the great outdoors with Pat as the two spent several weeks camping, hiking, and exploring the PNW with other co-workers. As the story goes, nearly half the hospital staff were "out sick" one or more days during the week the couple officially started dating as they were all camping together at Denny Creek, hiking several nearby trails, and swimming the many beautiful lakes. They slept happily in their tree hammocks every night and Gabe even cajoled them into playing Euchre by the fire. The last night of their group trip, they all piled in Adrian's trusty Jeep, drove to a high point with a clear view, climbed atop the roof, and watched the stars appear. Summer ended, and their relationship began just as Pat headed to Tacoma to study Marriage and Family Therapy and Gabe was finishing Nursing School. They still share a deep love of nature, friends, games, and calling out of work.
