Vizcaya Museum & Gardens
The Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, previously known as Villa Vizcaya, is the former villa and estate of businessman James Deering, of the Deering McCormick-International Harvester fortune, on Biscayne Bay in the present-day Coconut Grove neighborhood of Miami, Florida.
Miami Design District
The Design District is known for its sleek modern architecture, upscale interior design stores and art galleries. Luxury fashion and jewelry boutiques, cafes and celebrity-chef restaurants draw a well-heeled crowd. Public art dotting the area includes the Fly’s Eye Dome, a geodesic dome designed by inventor Buckminster Fuller. The Institute of Contemporary Art shows cutting-edge work in an ultra-modern building.
Wynwood Art District
Known for its many colorful murals, Wynwood is one of the city’s most happening districts. Wynwood Walls is an outdoor museum showcasing large-scale works by some of the world’s best-known street artists. The surrounding streets have converted warehouses housing craft breweries and funky art galleries. A hip young crowd frequents the neighborhood’s chic clothing boutiques, stylish bistros and late-night bars.
Miracle Mile
For an easily accesible, quiet yet lively evening, we recommend visiting Miracle Mile, known for shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. Visit Books & Books for an evening of books, wine and live music every evening Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, or walk the Mile to their plaza where you'll find a plethora of restaurants/upscale bars. Bonus: Visit Maman restaurant and order their sweetened iced Matcha drink for a pick-me-up in the afternoon (the bride's favorite!).
Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park
If Miami Beach isn't your scene, we recommend Bill Baggs State Park for a quieter beach experience. Great for relaxing after a big night, and houses the Cape Florida Light, the oldest structure in Miami-Dade.
South Pointe Park
South Pointe Park is a beautiful green space at the southern tip of Miami Beach. It offers stunning panoramic views of the South Beach shoreline, PortMiami’s cruise ships, Downtown Miami’s skyline and Fisher Island. The park has direct access to the beach as well as walking trails, picnic and barbecue areas, benches, a cafe and an off-leash bark park. There is also a mini water playground perfect for cooling off on a warm day, along with a jungle gym and lush landscaping. And best yet, Smith & Wollensky steakhouse is located in the park, with delicious dine-in and carry-out options.
Everglades Holiday Park Airboat Tours and Rides
This park is home to the popular reality TV series Gator Boys. It offers airboat rides as well as abundant opportunities for fishing and wildlife viewing.
