Chris and I met while we were both working, on October 19th, 2016. I received a hotline late in the day which turned into a 10 hour investigation. Chris showed up about half way through, to relieve the day-shift deputies who were on scene. Chris and I waited outside the house for hours while narcotic detectives did their investigation for a meth lab in the home. It was pouring down rain and had been a very long day, so I was completely oblivious to Chris flirting and trying to help as much as he could. I remember thinking to myself at one point: "Why is this deputy being so helpful... they're never this helpful!" (Sorry guys, it's true!) I was crabby and sarcastic to Chris most of the night, but, for some reason it didn't scare Chris off. He later told me that he spent most of his free time that night searching for me on Facebook and after looking through many, many, Sabrinas, he finally found me. Chris added me on Facebook and messaged me about the case the next morning. That weekend I was on call and worked two more hotlines with Chris. We continued to talk and he finally asked to take me out to dinner several days later. He let me choose where we went for our first date and anyone who knows me can probably guess where we went - Lapachangas! We were there for hours, long enough to realize that after 9:00 pm they play 2000's hip hop instead of their typical latino music. Our second date was to Sorelli's where we ate pizza and wings and drank a few beers. It was that night he said "So, are we like official now or what?" and my response was "Is that how you're going to ask me to be your girlfriend??" Four years later, here we are getting married!
It was March 4th, 2020, and we had plans to go to Samantha and Mark's house for dinner with them and my parents. Chris had SWAT training that day, so once he got home he just had to change and then we were leaving! He suspiciously wore a button up shirt, and that was the first thing that gave it away. Before arriving to Samantha and Mark's house I had a few suspicions that Chris was going to propose, but I brushed it off and just thought there's no way, and I didn't want to get my hopes up. This day happened to be the boys' 18 months, so we wanted to take pictures with them. Everyone suggested we go first and gave the boys to us - strange, but okay. The boys were not cooperative, and at one point, Cooper ran off and I had to go get him. When I turned around Chris had one hand behind his back and the other was holding Otto. That was when I knew and my face must've showed it! Chris realized that I knew and said "Are you freakin' kidding me??" and I laughed and just told him "It's fine, go ahead!" and he replied while laughing "I hate you". He then got down on one knee and gave me the sweetest speech about spending the rest of our lives together. We were both still holding the boys, and when Chris was done talking he let Otto take the ring out of the box... Otto chucked that ring across the driveway and it bounced a few times. I will never let Otto live that down. Once I picked it up I gave it back to Chris and said "YESSSSS!!" and he put it on my finger. It was the perfect proposal. Nothing glamorous, my family was there and we were holding our nephews who we love to pieces! It was the perfect day! We ended the night with a BBQ dinner and champagne to celebrate!
