Best Man
Nauman is the best sibling. He's funny and moderately tall. Less importantly, he's dependable and I can rely on him for anything (including speaking in front of everybody, that’s fun right). You’ll probably see a lot of him while you're here. He's the lead producer of the critically reviewed YouTube series, The Pursuit of Happy Meals™. He's also a big fan of ice cream. Fair warning - he will fight anyone who claims there's a better choice to be made over Thrifty’s pistachio ice cream. And yes, he is single!

Pallavi and I met on the first day of orientation at USC and we haven’t been able to shake each other since. Over the course of 8 years of shared family holidays and summer vacations, she’s earned the title of honorary Coomaraswamy. She’s brilliant, witty, and ever diligent in the war on small talk.

Did someone say polymers?!?! Danish just wrote his thesis on the responsive behavior of polyelectrolytes in various structures. In particular, he focused on characterizing the swelling behavior of these responsive systems and developing larger scale nanoparticle brush systems for enhanced swelling capabilities. You know what that means ladies - he’s a doctor! Don't get too excited, he's not an MD. Unfortunately he's married, but his wife also happens to be an MD (so we know who married up in that relationship).

Abby and I also met at freshmen orientation and shared a room for the next 3 years. From trying new restaurants to traveling halfway across the world, she’s always down for an adventure. She’s hilarious and is one of the hardest working people I know, and can (and will) quote Pride and Prejudice word for word. She also has this kickass job at the state department.

Now we're getting somewhere. Aziz is a treasured friend whom I trust completely. Whether he's showing off in his suit and tie or sunglasses and shorts (or just sunglasses ;) ), you will instantly recognize him and his fun demeanor. He's an elected director of the Alameda County Water District, and a standup comedian (a funny politician, who knew?).

Shanthi’s my younger cousin. She’s one of the most caring people you’ll ever meet. She’s a product manager by trade, but her superpower is tearing down the patriarchy one day at a time. I honestly hope to be like her when I grow up. She’s also currently at a cute start up called Microsoft.

People say that Nishad and I are similar. But people say a lot of things. What would you say? It doesn’t really matter. Anyways, Nishad is one of my good friends from college. Nishad has this really great T-shirt of a bale of hay saying “Sup dog” to a hot dog, and the hot dog replying “Hay”. "Sup dog” is a common youth greeting and “hay” is a homonym for “hey”. Surely that’s the best shirt one could own. Good taste, great friend.

She gives the best advice and is always down for a great dance party even if there’s no music. She’s also currently saving the world through her work in public policy analytics.

Pitbull, Mr. International, Jai. What do these 3 have in common? They’re the same person! Jai promised to help relentlessly with the wedding planning and execution. Of course he conveniently said all of these things right before he moved 400 miles away. Jai works in Cybersecurity, which he insists isn’t the same as IT, even though he’s taking care of all of the IT work for the wedding.

Luxshman has suffered through life surrounded by female cousins, so it only makes sense he’s surrounded by women at my wedding as my most masculine bridesmaid. He’s got the kindest heart and the crudest sense of humor. He’s always been there for me, so naturally I couldn’t imagine not having him by my side on my wedding day.

Alnoor once told me that we would be great neighbors because we could spend time together, but he wouldn’t feel like we ever had to. He's also referred to me a “consistent” friend who happened to be around. I appreciate Alnoor’s views on our friendship over many years, and I couldn't be happier to have him standing by my side on my wedding day(s).

Sara is the baby cousin and the youngest bridesmaid. It’s been truly amazing, inspiring, and definitely a little weird watching her become a fully functioning adult over the last 18 years. She’s a movie star in the making and a trivia queen with a strange amount of brain space occupied by 80’s pop culture. She’s also one of the funniest people I know. She keeps me young and I keep her humble.

I have known Aly-Reza for most of my life. He’s one of the kindest people that I know and is someone who always wishes the best for you. He's incredibly smart and will probably claim that he’s a better basketball player than I am. Which is true, but still upsetting. If you’re wondering why I’m being so nice to him; it’s because he actually deserves it.
