John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park
Renowned for being the country's first undersea park, John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park encompasses an impressive 70 nautical square miles. You can swim, camp, hike, paddle, and fish at this state park for a fee. You can also rent a boat, snorkeling gear, and even take scuba diving lessons. This is the state park that the Christ of the Abyss is located in.
Christ Of The Deep
Located within the John Pennekamp State Park. A.K.A. Christ of the Abyss. This is 4,000-pound bronze statue of Christ installed at the Key Largo National Marine Sanctuary. Book a snorkeling tour, and they will take you here, weather permitting.
Alligator Reef
Located 5 nautical miles off the coast of Islamorada. Only accessible by water vessel, but worth the effort. Great place for snorkeling, or just pull up and float to see all the beautiful fish!
Mosquito Bank Sandbar
Mosquito Bank is located in the upper Keys near Key Largo. It is just offshore of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. The Mosquito Bank covers a relatively large area and includes several sandbars and shallow areas.
