Location: 810 Grassy Brook Road Time: 3pm Attire: Formal Our ceremony will be outdoors, followed by a cocktail hour. Our reception will then take place in a large tent on the grounds. Be prepared to celebrate with lots of dancing! We will organize shuttles to White Barn Farm from the Riverside Hotel (see Travel & Lodging for more information). We will also provide contact information for a car service for those staying at different locations that want to arrange their own transportation. For those who wish to drive, there is also parking on-site. Children under the age of 4 are welcome at the wedding. However, for parents looking to maximize their fun at the festivities, please reach out to us for recommendations that the venue provided us for childcare options you can hire to watch your little ones. We are recommending that parents with children over the age of 4 leave kids with family members or make other arrangements so that you can let loose at the wedding. If that is not possible, please let us know so we can support you to make childcare arrangements.
We are requesting that all adult guests who attend be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to ensure that we can all celebrate safely.
We met at the suggestion of mutual friends, although those mutual friends did nothing of substance to actually make a direct introduction. Gary eventually resorted to Facebook to send a message asking Laura out for a date. On the night of the first date at a local burger place, Laura was somewhere between 7 and 15 minutes late (official accounts vary). Once on the date, both Gary and Laura - unbeknownst to the other - were trying not to check their phones. What did they want to check? Text messages? Social media? No, they wanted to check the score of the World Cup soccer qualifiers that were going on during the date - USA vs Trinidad and Tobago and Peru vs Colombia. The mighty USA was stymied by the mightier team from T&T, officially knocked out of contention for the World Cup, while Peru managed a tie against Colombia, eventually sending them through to their first World Cup in over 30 years. While the fates of their nations' soccer teams diverged on that night, Gary and Laura grew closer based on that experience. Laura even bought a beer for the distraught American. And, as they say, the rest is history.
