We recommend arriving Friday so you have time to settle in and enjoy Cascais before the wedding. If you’re able to stay longer, it’s a great place to make a long weekend or extended trip. We will be offering optional group tours and events throughout the weekend (details coming soon) if you would like to join in or travel/explore on your own!
We’re inviting everyone to take part in a classic wedding tradition by wearing "something blue," any shade, any way that feels right to you. This is completely optional, but we’d love to see it show up throughout the day. Blue can be as subtle or as bold as you’d like (a dress, tie, pocket square, jewelry, shoes, etc.).
Cascais has great hotels and vacation rentals at a range of price points. We’ve listed some recommended areas and hotels on the Travel page, but feel free to choose what works best for you. If you are coming with other people you know, we recommend sharing an Airbnb or VRBO property!
Lisbon Airport (LIS) is about 35–45 minutes from Cascais by Uber, taxi, rental car, or train. Details are on the Travel page.
We’ll share transportation details closer to the wedding. Cascais is very walkable, and Uber and taxis are easy to use if you prefer to make your own plans.
If your invitation includes a plus-one, they’re absolutely welcome. If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out.
We will not have formal hotel blocks. Cascais offers plenty of great options, and we wanted to give everyone flexibility.
We’ll be sharing a few optional group experiences (walking tours, wine tastings, Vespa rides, etc.) closer to the weekend for anyone who wants to join. Participation is completely optional.
Yes. All U.S. and Canadian guests will need a valid passport to travel to Portugal. We recommend checking expiration dates now; many countries require passports to be valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure date.
U.S. and Canadian passport holders do not need a visa for short tourist stays (under 90 days). If you’re traveling from another country, please check your local travel requirements.
Portugal uses the Euro (€). Credit cards are widely accepted, but it’s helpful to have some cash for small cafés or taxis.
Portuguese is the official language, but English is widely spoken in Cascais and Lisbon, especially in hotels, restaurants, and tourist areas.
Early September in Cascais is typically warm and sunny, with daytime temperatures around 70–80°F (21–27°C). Evenings near the ocean can cool off, so bringing a light layer is a good idea.
Portugal is in Western European Time (WET), which is typically 5 hours ahead of Eastern Time.
We recommend booking flights and hotels 3–5 months in advance, as September is a popular travel season in Portugal.
