Emily and Josh met on Hinge shortly after Emily graduated college and Josh moved to the United States for work. Neither of them were really looking for anything specific, but their lives changed on October 19th, 2019 when they met at the Yard House. Early on, it became clear they were comfortable being chaotic together. There was a Bruins game where they got very drunk, spilled nachos all over the back of an Uber (and kept eating them anyway), and a charity gala where they ate roughly 100 oysters in under five minutes because Josh insisted you can’t pass on free oysters, and the infamous round of golf where Emily broke Josh’s nose on the first hole. Those moments were loud, silly, and full of laughter; and they set the foundation for everything that came next. A few months later, the pandemic hit. What was supposed to be a two-week stay at Josh’s place turned into forever. Emily never moved back home, and they’ve been living together ever since. For the next two years, they lived in a triple-decker apartment in Allston with friends on separate floors (a setup that felt a lot like the TV show "Friends"). There were constant gatherings, epic Halloween and St. Patrick’s Day parties, spontaneous charcuterie boards and movie nights, and regular walks to local bars for drinks and 75-cent wings. An annual tradition of Canadian Thanksgiving emerged, where Emily and friends surprised Josh with a full Thanksgiving dinner on the Canadian holiday (which conveniently falls on U.S. Columbus Day). It was crowded, joyful, and rarely quiet. That era is where their love of hosting really took shape; they’ve always loved being surrounded by friends and family and extending the energy of their relationship outward. Their first trip together was Chicago in September of 2020. After that, they just kept booking the next one. Costa Rica. California. Florida. Paris. Croatia. A full trip through Italy from north to south. Eventually, a month traveling across Africa, which included multiple food poisonings, safaris, and opportunities to make friends with the locals. Emily and Josh love to experience all life has to offer together; and traveling is one of their favorite ways to do that. In 2022, they bought their first home. They love adventure and trying new things, but they care just as much about the everyday moments; cooking dinner together (Josh is an excellent sous chef and food is very much both of their love languages), hosting friends and family in the backyard, and snuggling their children (aka their cats), Dill and Basil. Josh is often seen lugging set pieces and driving U-Hauls for Emily’s children’s theatre productions, and Emily can be found cheering Josh on from soccer sidelines and cold ice rinks. On August 9, 2025, at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro; 19,300 feet (5,883 meters, for the Canadians), Josh got down on one knee after several days of climbing & their most challenging adventure yet. It was thrilling, emotional, and completely on brand. They’ve never really done anything small. That moment marked the start of their biggest adventure so far: continuing the life they've built together. For their wedding, they landed on Portugal. With families coming from two different countries, choosing somewhere neutral, accessible, and a little unexpected felt very on brand. They are excited to share their love of food, wine, culture, travel, and gathering with the people they love most. This celebration is as much about the people who shaped them as it is about the two of them. They cannot wait to celebrate with you all!
