There are several options to fly to Sicily. The Castle is outside of Palermo, which is where we recommend you fly in to. There are direct flight from NYC to Palermo, as well as NYC to Catania (near Taormina if you are looking for your White Lotus moment). Keep in mind, Catania is on the opposite side of the island from Palermo but there are trains and buses from Catania to Palermo. We recommend you track flights on Google, it is a great resource to watch prices. You can also easily get to Palermo from any major city in Europe, so if you prefer to fly to Rome, London, Paris or Madrid then Palermo would be a short flight and there are typically several flights per day!
We will be providing transportation for our guests from Palermo to the Zagarella Resort on Wednesday, September 24th. Check the travel page for more updated information!
Yes! We will be providing coach buses to take our guests from the main hotel to the Castle. If you decide not to stay at the main hotel, we recommend you stay nearby so you can easily navigate yourself to the buses.
Great question! First off, we got engaged in Sicily on the shores of the Tyrrhenian Sea (in case you didn't see the photos). But more importantly, Michael's father was born and raised in Sicily and his family still lives there today. We thought it would be the opportunity of a lifetime for our friends and family to come together in one of the most beautiful and special places in our lives!
Palermo is known for its rich history, having influences from most every major empire in history. Take in a nice coffee and pastry, then go visit the countless museums or cathedrals, or take a boat trip in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Michael's family lives outside of Palermo so we would be happy to give suggestions! Keep an eye on our “Things To Do” page for more recommendations!
Expect the weather to low to mid 80s and sunny. The summer will be winding down but it is very common to have great beach days into early October in Sicily!
