Matron of Honor
Leslie is Zan’s very first friend from their hometown of Mountain Brook. They were both on the track and basketball teams, but very quickly went from teammates to best friends. From family dinners, to study nights in front of the Boozer’s fireplace, to (very unhealthy) pre-game rituals the two were always together. Even after graduating from high school and going their separate ways, they made it a point to visit each other every place they’ve lived. Zan and Leslie set out goals for themselves very early, and they have achieved them! They both became division I, SEC athletes and now medical professionals (Leslie is a Nurse Practitioner currently on track to getting her doctorate). Through all the ups and downs that life brings, their friendship has never wavered. They made promises to be each other’s MOH no matter what, and have both made good on that! Without Leslie, there would be no wedding, as she introduced Garrison and Zan!
Maid of Honor
Zan’s “ride or die”. They are both from Birmingham where they played against each other in basketball and volleyball growing up. They then ended up being on the same club volleyball team. Shortly after Zan committed to Kentucky, Whitney followed suit and the rest is history! Whitney is currently a nurse in California, but her and Zan’s long distance friendship has not stopped them from traveling and remaining the best of friends. Cabo, The Dominican Republic, Puerto Vallarta, and Hawaii are just some of the places they’ve traveled together. Back in the day they’d be able to drink you under the table but today you won’t catch them without a liquid IV and some ibuprofen. Fun fact: they were born at the same hospital, just 2 days apart (they like to think they’ve known each other since birth).
Bridesmaid
Adelle, a fellow member of the BB (IYKYK), and Zan have both been in Atlanta for the past several years. They have shared countless dinners, drinks, hugs, tears, laughs, and more. They have been friends since middle school but it has been so special being by each other’s side as adults. Relationships, new babies, new jobs, new homes, and more, they have been able to depend on each other through it all.
Bridesmaid
EA and Zan met in 7th grade science class, where they were lab partners, and they have remained close ever since. Zan’s dad would always let her go out with her friends as long as EA was going. Some of Zan’s best and funniest memories include EA. They share a lot of common interests including sports, art, chapstick, and their love for their fur babies. Fun fact: they were in the junior high choir together. If you’re looking for her at the wedding, she’s on the dance floor with her husband, D!
Bridesmaid
Stephanie is Zan’s other “ride or die” from Kentucky. The three of them (Zan, Whit, and Steph) were inseparable and remain close to this day, though I don’t think Steph will ever ask them to babysit. Zan and Steph share a love for animals and may just open up a refuge for dogs one day (just hear us out, Sam and G).
Bridesmaid
Emily is the granny of the BB. We spent many nights in (and out) of her basement and enjoyed countless meals prepared by her stepmom, Melody. Emily is the go-to girl for a lot of our friend group’s needs, most being advice or some type of recommendation. The glue that keeps the BB together, Emily is one of the most genuine and loyal friends.
Best Man
My oldest Brother taught me everything I know. He is the best athlete of the family & I've always tried to play up to his standard. He has always been a guide, making sure I stay on point & is always watching my blind spots for things I might not see! He has been a true role model and a leader among men. He is very successful in everything he pursues! I love my brother !
Best Man
Gerald is my 2nd oldest Brother. He also taught me a lot. He is always calm & level headed. He is always looking out for my best interest & always bringing me with him to hang out with his friends. Gerald took me to some of the best Homecomings at NC A&T "GHOE" where I saw Wayne in his prime perform. Gerald always pushed me to be more than an athlete & because of my brother I graduated with Honors (3.2 GPA) as a Student Athlete at the University of Georgia! Gerald continues the Smith Families Black Excellence with a very successful career in Engineering. I love my brother !
Groomsman
Dion "Big Baby" is my Play Big Brother, but he's just like a real brother. My family considers him family. I can count on him to be at any major family event! I met Big Baby my senior year in high school, because an officer at the school wanted me to meet a positive figure who played Collegiate & Professional Football. He also had ties to UGA. We ended up going to a UGA Football game & ever since then we were inseparable. When my siblings started their careers & got super busy getting their lives started, Big Baby picked up the slack. To keep me out of trouble, Big Baby would let me spend all my time in Atlanta with him, even giving me a key to his House. Big Baby would get me in to all the clubs with him (even before I turned 21 LOL) . But, he always made sure I was safe & we had the times of our lives. I am the God Father to his 2 sons Boobie & Dash, the next super stars of the family. BIG BABY knows "Am I My Brothers Keeper ??... YES I AM YES I AM" Love you forever Big Bro!
Groomsman
Mike Teezy AKA Meatball was my college roommate. At first I had a beef with Mike, because he went to my high school's rival (Stephenson High). Mike wore my # in high school (56), & when we played each other he had the nerve to say "I'm the real 56". If you know anything about my nature, from that point on I was beefed out. But, when we got to UGA we ended up being very good friends. We were always leaning on each other through the hard days at UGA & our families even became close. Mike was always a good role model and wanted me to settle down & find an amazing wife like his Taylor. Well Meatball, you got your wish. I'm out the game dog & my jersey is in the rafters ! Lol Love ya Meatball!
Groomsman
My best Friend KB "Wee" and I have been friends since preschool. Our grandmothers lived in the same neighborhood, and we used to play as kids. In 4th grade KB found his way back to APS School system & ended up being in my class again & since then me & KB never separated. KB got me in so much trouble growing up lol. One day this man started making funny faces behind the teachers back while she was discussing a very sensitive history subject. I couldn't help but laugh & because of this the teacher called my grandmother up to the school smh. This was the life of me & KB. He was constantly getting me in some stuff lol, but he always had my back through thick & thin and he always understood me. KB would come visit me often when I was at UGA & we would have the time of our lives. We have so many stories to tell our kids one day. One thing about it though, If everything goes bad I know I can count on KB. Love ya Brodie 4L !
Groomsman
My best Friend Josh and I grew up together at Cascade (Adams Park / John A. White Park) playing baseball against each other, and Football on the same team. Me & Josh naturally just matched each others energy on the field. Nobody we played had more "HEART" than me & Josh. Josh has always been a good friend, and someone I can count on. He's been there with me through many sticky situations, & even though he is smaller than me, he was always making sure I was safe. If I'm going through a dark alley, hands down it's going to be Josh with me because I know he's going to handle himself just like me. Through many situations at the treacherous Doug High, my brother Josh stood tall by my side ready to ride to the end & it's still like that to this very day. Love ya brodie 4L
Groomsman
Oliver "OLI" is another one of my best friends. Out of all my friends I call Oli my boujee friend lol. We definitely have similar taste in some things. His family also grew up on my grandparent's street, but we didn't become friends until high school. Me & Oli have grown to become very close. He is another friend that's been tested by fire & has come to my rescue in one of those sticky situations. I'm very proud of Oli being a trailblazer in the aviation industry. He is now a pilot for his dream company, Delta Airlines. Me & Oli talk & have very deep intellectual conversations, and I'm grateful to have him as a friend . Love ya Brodie 4L
Groomsman
One of my best friends, Keith "Kk" is the poster child for what a "Pretty Boy" is lol. I met Keith in 6th grade and we instantly clicked. We ended up seeing each other on a Friday night at Lakewood Stadium & our older brothers were actually teammates. Keith is another friend that I can count on. He always made sure I was safe & out of any situation that would put me in danger. He would always come to watch me play when I was at UGA, which I really appreciated . Me & Keith talk & have deep conversations. I have a lot of respect for him, and I can always count on him. I love him 4L
Groomsman
One of my best friends, Reau! Our mothers were college friends. We met as kids & we have literally grown up together. Me & Jarreau used to sit in church together & write on the offering envelopes to pass time lol! Jarreau is a world traveler & very hardworking corporate man. I appreciate all our years of friendship and I love you brodie!
Groomsman
Me & Ronnie played against each other in high school. I met Ronnie through my roommate Meatball (both went to Stephenson) and also through training with the infamous Coach Ball "Big Dutch". Me & Ronnie became extremely close in 2016 when we ended up being on the same NFL team, the Seattle Seahawks. Ironically, we also ended up getting injured at the same time. Through having lots of free time, we ended up becoming good friends & have stayed that way ever since. I have met a lot of good people through Ronnie. I never thought I would live on the East & now me & Ronnie are basically neighbors lol. Love ya Brodie !
Groomsman
Keon is like another big brother to me. I met Keon at a UGA networking event & we instantly clicked and have been friends ever since. Keon is very wise & he's another trusted friend I can call & bounce ideas off of. He has taught me a lot & he has prepared me with a lot of game for what's to come lol. Keon is a hardworking entrepreneur with a very successful company & I appreciate his friendship. Love ya brodie !
