Chicago Ranch Open Space Trail (Local Walk/Hike)

27354 Co Rd 321, Buena Vista, CO 81211

Easy 2.2 mile flat loop on gravel path. Wide open, exposed area with views of the Collegiate Peaks and amazing sunsets! 5 minute drive out of town. To access the trail, plug in the coordinates above, or head south on Rodeo Road. After passing the Sportsman's Club and UAS Club, look for the blue lean-to shed on your right.

Lost Lake Trailhead

RH6X+X6, Tincup, CO 81211

Moderate 3.2 mile hike, out and back. See link for current trail conditions. In late May, there is likely some snow and ice, but conditions can really differ this time of year. Make sure to check first! You can rent spikes (metal that fits over your shoes for better traction) or snowshoes and have a lovely time.

Ptarmigan Lake Trailhead

Ptarmigan Lake Trailhead

RJ3G+93, Buena Vista, CO 81211

6.1 mile out and back, this is our FAVORITE hike nearby! It is at higher altitude and moderate/difficult, so please check conditions before trying, bundle up, and bring lots of water. Can be done with spikes or snowshoes as long as the snow is packed. Reach out to us for any tips as we get closer to May!
