Danielle had just gotten off work and hadn’t been to her watering hole- King Snake- in a while- it was a pretty bad day and Danielle just wanted to vent. Mitchell, his friend Tristan, and brother Nick came in shortly after Danielle’s first beer. As Danielle is venting her day to the barkeep- Mitchell was consistently heckling her from behind with “Do you ever stop talking?!”, naturally Danielle’s response was “No. I don’t”. After several jabs back and forth, Mitchell slyly snuck into the empty seat next to hers to order another round. Mitchell made a comment about how “Your hat is stupid” to which Danielle responded “Ya, well your mustache is stupid”. Later they exchanged numbers. After exchanging numbers they proceeded to laugh over cold beers and Mitchell’s less than coordinated attempt at a swing dance- it was in this moment that Danielle realized she was a sucker for those green eyes and that mustache.
The events of this story are brought to you by Havasu, AZ. After going on many dates over the last three months, and the constant yo-yo of hesitation mixed with nervousness Mitchell left for Nick’s bachelor party. While on this trip Mitchell and Danielle were in constant communication throughout the day and well into the evening most nights. About halfway through the week Mitchell texted “I need to call you about something really important!” Danielle’s stomach dropped and she panicked, her natural dramatic demeanor imagining the worst case scenarios- who needs bail money, which brother adopted a pet monkey, which bar did they get kicked out of, who lost the keys to the van?! Mitchell’s incoming FaceTime call pulled Danielle back to reality where he explained that he couldn’t get her off his mind, and he’s going to take a chance. At this time he told Danielle “I love you. I can’t keep denying it.” Danielle was crying and told him she loved him back! After a few more sappy minutes of talk, Danielle told him to go hang out with the boys and she’ll be around. A few hours went by and Danielle called him back, Mitchell answered the phone to her asking “Wait- are you gonna ask me to be your girlfriend now?!” Which of course was “yes”!
The first proposal. Yes. There’s more than one. Mitchell was given the idea to take a broken metal ring, and a baby carrot (Yes. The vegetable) and “gift” it to Danielle. Well Mitchell doubled down and created a whole proposal. “It’s not much- I’m dealing with what I had…” dropping to one knee and pulling out the gag “It’s only a carrot”. Danielle was less than thrilled in the moment, but got over it several hours later… but still brings it up whenever she’s feeling extra sassy.

Mitchell then asked what Danielle’s middle name was, dropped to a knee, and used a costume ring to propose. The next morning Danielle asked if Mitchell was serious- and he said absolutely. Mitchell also let Danielle in on a secret- that he was already in process of designing a beautiful turquoise ring. Despite the Amazon supplied ring- Danielle was more than excited to wear it, and purchase a couple more to figure out what shape stone she really wanted. They began telling family and friends about their news and thus began the official engagement period!
It was the last thing Danielle expected on Christmas morning. She was not paying attention in the moment when Mitchell yelled, “Hey hunny, you have one more gift to open!” Feeling over spoiled that morning her response was “Why?!?” only to find everyone looking at Mitchell who was dropping to a knee. Danielle didn’t let him get too far into his premeditated question when she grabbed his face and told him “I’ll always say yes to you!” The last gift this morning was a gorgeous turquoise ring, fitting perfectly on her finger. Later Danielle found out that Mitchell had to orchestrate with multiple family members to get the ring home; knowing that Danielle is too inquisitive (read: nosey) for Mitchell to sneak away for a day in order to get it home.
