Our story began like a lot of others in 2019, COVID just started shutting everything down, so we turned to online dating. Garrett and I were both exploring Facebook Dating when we swiped on each other. Garrett sent the first message and I ignored him. He then sent a second message saying he had "toilet paper and hand sanitizer" and there was a shortage so! That was in March, and then finally in May, we were able to set up the first date. Garrett picked me up in his "black" Mustang, and we ordered Rosies to eat at Big Spring Park. We then walked around the park and found a bench to chit chat for a bit! That bench becomes very special to us!
Was my proposal a surprise? No. Garrett and I went and picked out the ring in May, so I knew he had it somewhere around his apartment. I also knew he wanted to do it before we went to Pennsylvania for the Fourth of July. I told Garrett I had a couple of "rules for my engagement" for when it happens. 1. Make sure my nails are done. 2. Make sure there is a photographer. 3. I pretty much wanted to pick my outfit. We actually picked out the date it would happen together, June 22nd, not June 24th because that's Meatball's Birthday, the most important day of the year. The day he proposed, I got ready for work, curling my hair and doing my make-up, and then Garrett picked me up after. We ordered Rosies, then took it to the park and ate (Garrett said to me "please do not get that on your shirt"). Afterward, we walked around just like our first date, Then we got to that bench that we spent all that time at learning about each other, and Garrett got on one knee and asked me to marry him! He asked me if I would spend the rest of my life with him and take care of him, and of course, I said yes. We then left and took a selfie with Meatball as a new family.
