Kayla and Mikey first met in high school, but their love story didn’t truly begin until a few years later. When they were 17 and 19, a mutual friend shared a little secret—Mikey had a crush on Kayla. They spent an unforgettable summer together, growing closer with each passing day. When Mikey left for Johnson & Wales in Rhode Island, Kayla assumed it was just a summer romance. But Mikey had other plans—he never let the distance get in the way. In late September, Mikey surprised Kayla by coming home for her birthday. That weekend, he officially asked her to be his girlfriend. For the next two years, they made long-distance work—countless road trips, weekend visits, and calls that lasted until sunrise, always making the most of their time together. During Mikey’s senior year, their little family grew when they brought home their sweet dog, Gracie, who quickly became the center of their world. Gracie became Kayla’s travel buddy on weekend drives to Rhode Island, happily riding along to visit Mikey until he graduated that spring. From that point on, the three of them shared a life filled with smiles, adventures, and a love that kept growing every day. After seven wonderful years, Mikey got down on one knee and asked Kayla to spend forever with him. She said yes—surrounded by love, happy tears, the people they loved most, and of course, with Gracie by their side.
