We've known OF each other for years, since 7th grade to be exact. We formally became friends our senior year in high school when we sat next to each other in our Government and Economics class. Slowly we figured out how much we had in common (like how he was at the same 2005 Green Day concert my family was at), went to countless concerts together, and were in the student athletic training program together. I wrote papers for Ethan and he gave me quiz answers so I didn't have to read whatever book was assigned in English. It was a sweet deal. After graduation we slowly drifted apart and went on with our lives, still going to the occasional show together. When I was 19 I moved into my first apartment. I lived alone and was making tacos too late at night then realized I didn't have a can opener to open my can of refried beans (anyone that knows me knows my love for refried beans). I jokingly sent a snapchat to Ethan and within a few minutes (and after realizing we lived super close to each other) he was at my door with a can opener to save the day. From then on we were inseparable, doing the most mundane things together just to spend time with each other. I kissed him for the first time on his 21st birthday after he followed me around downtown while I took the dumbest pictures for my photography class. He was my best friend. We started dating a few months later (I know, I know. It took us far too long to put a label on what we were). By that December I moved in with him and his two roommates. We miss those days more than anything. We eventually got our own place together and adopted our first pet, Penny the Cyclops Princess. A few years later we decided to quit our jobs, pack up our lives and our cat and move to Colorado for a new adventure. We survived COVID as essential workers, added one more cat to the family, and made a home ourselves. 7 years later and we are more in love than ever.
