How did we meet?

Georgetown TX, 06/24/21

We all hear unsuccessful stories about dating apps, and how you can meet the most weird and unusual people and then end up regretting your life choices by then. But this time I can say, that this was something so out of ballpark from that. Michael and I matched on Bumble mid July- merely two months after moving to a state where I knew literally nobody. We talked on and off for the next couple weeks until he finally asked to take me to dinner. Michael and I always joke because when we were preparing for our first date, we both told each other what we were going to be wearing, that way we would know who each other were when we got to the front of the building. Well, being the indecisive person I am, I changed outfits three times, and made a trip to target to find a whole new outfit an hour before leaving to meet him. On my way to the restaurant, I was so consumed in texting him that my outfit changed, that I had missing my exit and I would be now running 10 minutes behind. Shocker, me running late. We joke to this day stating that he thought I was going to stand him up.. but little did he know, and found out soon after, that I am a terrible navigator. The worst. But eventually I made it to the restaurant. We meet, sat down at our table, and begin talking about everything under the sun. Michael and I laugh about our first date, saying that it was the most odd but best first date we have ever been on. Our checks physically hurt by the end of the night from how much we smiled and laughed. In that time we spent at the restaurant (3 hours), we noticed everything got quiet. When we looked around, we realize that we were the last people in the restaurant. Even the waiting staff we’re sitting at booths, probably waiting for us to be done. After we paid, Michael walked me to my car and we then proceeded to talk for 30 more minutes in the parking lot next to the worst smelling dumpster. That night is something we will always cherish forever.
