How We Met

Fire and Ice

So how did a Georgia boy meet a Seattle city girl? Our story begins with Game of Thrones. I had finally started watching Game of Thrones after the 6th season aired & I was hooked. Tim, on the other hand, heard about it and refused to watch it thinking it was terrible. Then one fateful day Tim saw a HBO special that offered free HBO for a week prior to the final season premiere. He gave in & set the TV to record Game of Thrones. A few days passed and he finally got around to "giving it one more try". Well much to his surprise he ended up binge watching the entire series. During this time an ad came on for a mobile phone game - Game of Thrones Conquest - & you could have your own dragon! Well, you don't have to tell me twice. I signed up nearly 5 years ago to the day of our wedding (April 15th 2019 to be exact). That same day, most likely within the same few hour span, Tim signed up for the same game and we were placed in the same "kingdom" aka server. While Tim started playing and being involved in the game, I logged on once in a while and mostly forgot about it until Season 8 aired. I started playing more and slowly it became a great way to pass the time. Eventually I was picked up by a team (aka an alliance) and realized there was a social aspect to the game. Remember, I had only been interested in the dragon after all. Over time, I started chatting with the team and having more fun while learning to play. August 2019 the team I was on merged into another one - one that Tim ran. Little did I know that my life would change so drastically and for the better. We became friends and had a ton of fun playing the game but you know how the stories go - the people online are all liars and not who they say they are. At the time, I don't think either of us cared. We were having fun, didn't expect to actually meet each other, and never thought anything would come of it. Regardless, we became best friends. It became clear early on that we had some crazy chemistry. I could read a vague text from him and understand what he was really saying 3 layers deep. We could be 100% honest without concern, we slowly opened up and laughed more than we ever have. We can still read each other's minds - it's my favorite party trick. He introduced me to Bert Kreischer - it was a game changer for us. Not only was he hilarious, but his first comedy special "Secret Time" became a game we would play daily. Randomly we would text each other "secret time" and share things about ourselves. While it wasn't always a "secret" it was a fun and easy way for two people who are not known for opening up, to do just that. Tim's family finally started to ask what the hell he was laughing at all the time. I mean, we are talking about someone who enjoys solitude and talking to people that often was very out of character for him. Who was this happy go-lucky guy? Where was the grumpy exterior? He says I saved him but the truth is, we saved each other. Now that we are together, I don't think it's possible for either of us to exist without the other. We really did find true love. Trust us, we are shocked too. Fast forward to February 2021 and I took the plunge and flew out to Georgia to meet a complete stranger but it never felt strange. It just felt right. We spent the next year flying back and forth, traveling, laughing, and playing our game while creating an incredible love story. It really is rare to have someone fully "see" you and love you all the same. October 2021 Tim moved out to Washington (we do have better weather after-all), we bought a house, two giant dogs, and realized we were living a life we never thought was possible. After what seemed like a 10 year period (jet lag, you know) Tim brought his family out to Seattle, took us up to the top of the Space Needle and got down on one knee. I said yes! Now we are planning our next chapter in this unexpected love story and are honored to have you joining us. Oh, and we do still have our dragons ;)
