Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Please plan to arrive at 4pm sharp. At that time guests will be allowed to take the elevator up to the roof and be seated for the ceremony. When you arrive at Liberty View plaza, follow the sidewalk along the parking lot, enter at the last sliding doors (under the “Liberty Brooklyn” sign). Elevators to the roof are just inside the front door, immediately to your left. Follow the signs and be on the lookout for the Brooklyn Grange staff person.

Question

Is there a shuttle?

Answer

We will provide a shuttle for guests staying in our two hotel blocks on Schermerhorn street. It will leave from outside the Ace Hotel at 3:40 and return following the end of the reception. Stay tuned for updates from the DJ.

Question

Answer

The venue staff have these suggestions for parking: Street parking is available in the neighborhood Metered parking is available under the BQE along 3rd Av A parking lot operated by Industry City is located on 2nd Avenue (between 31st Street and 32nd Street) called "Lot B" ($15).

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Like Kurt Cobain sang, "Come As You Are" which is always as we want you to be. But we're excited for this chance to look our spiffy best. Think typical wedding-formal.

Question

What about the weather?

Answer

NYC in October can be a wild card and we will begin the festivities with an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour. We will do our best to keep folks warm and toasty but please check the forecast and dress accordingly. Don't forget your sunblock and shades!

Question

I have a dietary restriction, can I make a special request?

Answer

Absolutely! Please just make sure to note this in your RSVP.

Question

Do you have a registry?

Answer

Your presence is present enough! Seriously. No matter if you are coming from near or far, we understand weddings involve a significant investment. But we understand some may still want to give a gift and we appreciate you thinking of us. We set up honeymoon cash funds on the registry page for travel and experiences. We are headed to Australia and New Zealand and will be sure to share lots of pictures and stories. You will help us make cherished, lasting memories... and allow us to conserve space in our much beloved, but modestly-sized, Brooklyn apartment. (We also included some nice-to-have household items.)

Question

What's the history of your venue?

Answer

Brooklyn Grange is located in Sunset Park and opened on the rooftop of 850 3rd Ave in 2021. It is a fully-operational 3.2 acre farm. Along with their two other locations, the farms produce over 100,000 lbs of organically-grown vegetables per year. In the early 20th century, the neighborhood was known for its industrialized waterfront and military properties, including the Bush Terminal, Brooklyn Army Terminal, and Navy storehouses (the Grange's building was constructed to serve as one of these.) Traces of that history are still highly visible today, although most spaces converted to retail. Bush Terminal turned into a unique waterside landscape and park. (Catch a glimpse of Bush Terminal behind us on the Home page.) Around 2017, Bed, Bath, and Beyond opened a large store in the Grange's building which anchored the mall, named Liberty View Industrial Plaza. Sadly, BB&B shuttered last year leaving us with the memories... and so many, many coupons.

Question

Do you live in the same neighborhood as the venue?

Answer

We do not live in Sunset Park, but we are close by and will often go for walks or errands to that part of the city. We live in Kensington, which has a more residential character and history. It is a wonderful neighborhood, and if time permits, we encourage you to explore it while you're here. Or come back and visit us for a more thorough tour ;-) We go in depth over on our Things to Do page, but Kensington borders historic Prospect Park, Green-wood Cemetery, and the preserved Victorian houses of Ditmas Park, all of which are nice to explore in the fall season. The retail and restaurant strip on Cortelyou Rd has some of our favorite bars and restaurants, a bookshop, a Brooklyn-themed gift shop, and on Sundays hosts our local farmer's market.
