Hotel
Puerto Escondido has so many beautiful Airbnbs. Every time we’ve stayed at one with 4.9 stars and more than 20 reviews, it’s been absolutely magical. The area is full of architectural wonders, each place with its own unique charm. If you can find one with a pool, you’re truly in paradise. Just make sure it has AC—that’s a must. In our experience it’s best to book this right after your flights are booked.
Travel Note
Gaby and I did most of our getting around by taxi. They’re everywhere and very easy to use. At hotels and restaurants, you can usually go to the front desk and they’ll radio one in for you. If you flag a taxi down on the street, just be sure to agree on the price before getting in. Taxis here don’t use meters, so it’s important to settle the fare ahead of time. You generally shouldn’t pay more than 300 pesos for a ride.
Flight
We’ll be flying on November 11 (Veterans Day) to give ourselves a few extra days to acclimate to the heat before the wedding. From our experience, the best flight prices usually show up 8 to 5 months before departure, especially when flying out of LAX or SFO. There are currently no nonstop flights to Puerto Escondido from U.S. airports or from Tijuana. Most routes connect through Mexico City, with some itineraries stopping in Guadalajara as well.
Hotel
We stayed here when scouting the venue. We really enjoyed this hotel as it is walking distance from La Punta and it had a nice rooftop pool and bar. It also had a very affordable and relaxing couples massage. 5/5 recommend
Hotel
Another great option. While it’s still a taxi ride from the wedding venue (Posada), it’s a lovely hotel located in Rinconada, within walking distance to the downtown area. It’s comfortable, well-situated, and a solid choice if you want easy access to restaurants, shops, and town while still enjoying a relaxing stay.
Travel Note
The venue will be at the beach club cocos located at the Posada Real hotel. While a beautiful area for a wedding we did not particularly like the hotel accommodations. Proximity and price point may be a plus but the thin walls, hard bed and constant phone calls were not for us. 2/5 recommend.
