Question

ARE KIDS INVITED?

Answer

We would love to have the whole family down in Mexico for the weekend, however, no kids under 12 are invited to the wedding or reception. They are more than welcome at all the other events. If you are planning to bring your kids and would like a babysitter for the wedding night, we have some excellent vetted English speaking babysitter recommendations from our wedding planners (Just let us know!).

Question

HOW LONG ARE THE BRIDE AND GROOM STAYING?

Answer

We will be there for the whole week prior the wedding! We encourage you to come early or stay after the wedding, we would love to spend time with you! We hope that our guests can explore CDMX and make a trip out of the occasion. Additionally, we will plan daily outings to explore the city if our guest would like to join us.

Question

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY FLIGHT?

Answer

Right now! Flight prices to Mexico City tend to drop around 3-6 months out, which would fall around September 2024 for our March 2025 wedding date.

Question

WHAT SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT MEXICO CITY?

Answer

(1) CDMX = Ciudad de Mexico (aka the shorthand for Mexico City) (2) CDMX is the largest city in all of North America. Fifth largest in the world. New York City holds the 41st slot, for size context. (3) Check in with your cell phone provider before coming down to make sure you have some kind of international coverage. Be sure to download Uber as well before landing for a smooth airport pick up! (4) All of our wedding events will be centralized in La Condesa. La Condesa has lots of restaurants and places to go- make sure to check out Parque Mexico and Parque España! (5) CDMX is based at the top of a mountain, so please be prepared for an altitude change depending on where you're traveling in from. It sits right at 7,300 sq ft above sea level. Stay hydrated, pack electrolytes, and if you can, try to arrive at least a day or two before the wedding day to help better acclimate. (6) More places to explore around CDMX include the Centro - the historic center of Mexico City, filled with museums, the Zocalo, and lots of people buzzing about. Chapultepec is a beautiful park just north west of La Condesa. It's twice the size of Central Park, so be ready to get some steps in! If you would like to venture out to places like Teotihuacán, we'd recommend going after you've been in town for at least a couple days to acclimate. It's a good daytrip with lots of walking around the Aztec ruins.

Question

WILL MY CELL PHONE WORK IN MEXICO CITY?

Answer

Almost all the main carriers, Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile, offer free roaming in Mexico. We recommend you check with your carrier before traveling.

Question

HOW SHOULD I PAY FOR THINGS IN MEXICO CITY?

Answer

The U.S. dollar cannot be used in México, so bring Mexican pesos with you or get some from the nearest ATM when you arrive. Most places also take credit cards, but it’s best to have some cash for tips, public restrooms, street tacos, etc. You’ll see the $ sign on all prices, but this refers to the Mexican peso, not the U.S. dollar. The conversion is typically about $20 pesos to $1 dollar.

Question

CAN I DRINK THE WATER?

Answer

No! Don't drink the tap water under any circumstances. You are okay to use water in small quantities, like brushing your teeth or ice in your glass. We recommend coming prepared with Imodium and/or Pepto-Bismol just in case. You can also find medicine at a local farmacia if needed!
