We have two modes: we’re either on a walk with our puppy, Bobo, or cooking at home… or we’re not in the country. We figured it would only be fitting to get married where it all started for us, in Mexico City. We started dating in January 2021, when fun and adventure was at a hault for most. Luckily for us, we spent our first months together skiing, hiking, cooking our favorite meals for each other, and falling in love. Rob had plans with a friend to go backpacking and work remotely from South America, but was biding his time to get to know Gabbie better, and was able to push his trip back a few weeks. After six weeks of knowing each other, Rob asked Gabbie to join him on his travels to South America and Mexico - this could have gone horribly wrong, but fortunately it didn't. We spent two months traveling the Galapagos Islands, Quito and throughout Mexico. Our trip included two weeks in Mexico City, where we were able to experience the wonderful culture, food and historical sites. We fell in love with the City in a heartbeat, as well as with each other. In the past three years, we’ve clocked multiple trips to Mexico City, and longer hauls to Europe and the Middle East (Spain, Portugal, Greece, Italy, France, Turkey, and Jordan), and we are constantly looking for our next adventure. Rob’s family is originally from Mexico, many of whom still live in the Michoacán area today. We wanted to embrace his Mexican heritage and incorporate aspects into our wedding, all while hosting it in our favorite city ever, Mexico City. As such, a “passport required” wedding not only felt right, it felt “us”.
