I met him when we both volunteered to perform at graduation. I was finishing my freshman year of high school, and he was wrapping up his sophomore year. We were both rather timid individuals, but something clicked between us. I turned to him, and though I don't think I even caught his name before we started talking, we became fast friends. Since he was a few grades above, he graduated, and we tried to keep in contact as much as possible. We saw each other again around 2019, and the rest is history. We've always been inseparable, we're best friends, and nothing's sweeter than knowing you're marrying your best friend.
New Orleans is where I grew up; it is my home, while Indianapolis is Noah's. Sometime after Mardi Gras in 2023, Noah and I planned our first trip to New Orleans, and I took care of most of the details, except the engagement I never saw coming. That part took me by surprise. Leading up to the trip, Noah kept telling me that he had a surprise planned, as it was supposed to be an anniversary trip. Curiosity had me restless, and he did well at hiding it from me even as we unpacked in our Airbnb. After brunch and some shopping on the second day, we walked by the river. "Do you love me?" He asks me this, and I reply yes. "Would you wanna be with me forever?" And I remember saying yes again. That's when he got down on one knee, he pulled out the ring box and didn't even get the chance to open it before I broke down in tears, mumbling yes repeatedly. He laughs nervously, and shows me the ring, and it felt like everything changed in an instant, now here we are! So excited to get married in the city where we got engaged.
