YES - you will need to apply for a UK Visa prior to arrival. Visas can be obtained for £16 or $22 and is valid for 2 years from the date of issue. The process is relatively quick and easy and turnaround is generally fast but please do not wait to apply! Please also keep the visa confirmation email especially if you do not use the app as you may need to present it as proof of visa. The link to apply can be found below: https://www.gov.uk/eta/apply
Scotland is a part of the UK so they are on the pound. Be sure to check the exchange before traveling, since the pound is typically at an advantage over the dollar.
Great question! The weather in Scotland can change in an instant, so it's best to dress in layers and bring a rain jacket. Umbrellas are often impractical with the wind and frequency of weather changes, so we recommend a travel size one or to leave it at home. Also make sure to bring comfortable shoes appropriate for cobblestones. Make sure to check the weather before packing since September can be hot, cold, or anywhere in between!
No, tipping isn't really a practice in Scotland when it comes to dining, however, of course if you see a tip jar or received great service, go ahead and leave something anyway!
Look RIGHT first, NOT LEFT, when crossing the street
We recommend jumping on one of the double decker shuttle buses at the airport! It's only a few pounds for a round trip ticket (purchased when you board) and drops you right in the city center outside Waverley train station, just a short walk to the recommended hotel! Please note though that to get to the hotel from the bus drop off there are a good amount of steps, so you can also take a longer path up the hill and Royal mile or grab a super quick cab/uber!
