International family and friends - flying into the Toronto airport is often cheaper as it is a bigger airport hub. However - it is a 3.5 hour direct drive from Toronto to Detroit. There are bus services that connect the cities and they are around $30 and take 6 hours. You will need to go through customs and borders services twice if you drive in. You may find it easier to fly into Toronto then book a separate flight that same day intro Detroit.
