Nuestra historia comienza aqui...

We met in graduate school at the University of Texas at Austin in 2021 on a quiet bus ride home. A shared glance turned into a conversation about classes, work, and where we were from. By the time we got off at the same stop, we realized we lived right across from each other... and that was the start of something special. We quickly became close friends, spending our time studying together, making weekend plans, and going on late-night food runs. Even when distance separated us during a summer in Washington, D.C., our connection only grew stronger. We talked all the time, stayed up way too late on the phone, and one night at 3 a.m., Gabriel asked to make things official. The answer was yes—on the condition that he ask again properly, in person. When we reunited in Texas, he did just that, filling the apartment with flowers, candles, and a sign asking the question all over again. From then on, we’ve been inseparable. Our relationship has been full of laughter, faith, and lots of love through big moves, career changes, and life’s tougher moments. Gabriel proposed at the National Gallery of Art after months of planning, and we couldn’t be more excited to start this next chapter together.

Nos conocimos en Austin, Texas, en la escuela de maestría en 2021, en un tranquilo viaje en autobús de regreso a casa. Todo empezó con una mirada y terminó en una buena plática sobre clases, trabajo y de dónde veníamos. Cuando nos bajamos en la misma parada y nos dimos cuenta de que vivíamos justo frente al otro, supimos que ahí había algo especial. Muy pronto nos volvimos inseparables: estudiar juntos, hacer planes los fines de semana y salir por comida a altas horas de la noche se volvió parte de nuestra rutina. Incluso cuando la distancia nos separó durante un verano en Washington, D.C., lo nuestro solo se hizo más fuerte. Hablábamos todo el tiempo, nos desvelábamos en llamadas larguísimas y una noche, a las 3 de la mañana, Gabriel pidió que hiciéramos oficial lo nuestro. La respuesta fue sí—con la condición de que lo pidiera bien, y en persona. Cuando nos reencontramos en Texas, cumplió, llenando el depa de flores y un letrero con la pregunta. Desde entonces no nos hemos soltado. Nuestra historia está llena de risas, fe y mucho amor, incluso en medio de mudanzas, cambios de trabajo y días difíciles. Gabriel propuso matrimonio en la Galería Nacional de Arte después de meses de planearlo, y estamos más que felices de empezar este nuevo capítulo juntos.
