Gabe and I met on campus at West Chester University. A mutual friend invited him to my apartment for a fun party before we all went out dancing. The night was a whirlwind of dancing and singing, but as everyone started to disperse, we gravitated toward each other. I laughed as he dramatically counted how many push-ups his friend could do at the bus stop and I smiled all the way back to my apartment when he asked for my number. We planned to meet at the library to study for exams, and he happily typed on his new tablet that his lovely mother had bought him for school. I leaned in, trying to look cute and promptly dumped my hot latte all over the keyboard. Gabe stared at the tablet as the screen went black, and I held my breath, terrified I had just blown my chances with the handsome frisbee player. What I would soon learn is that Gabe is the most laid-back, kind human being I’ve ever known. He laughed and said, “Well, guess I’m done for the day!” We both started laughing, and all of the tension left my body. After that moment, he walked me home from frisbee practice, took me on breakfast dates, and watched movies with me, cuddled up on a twin bed. Meeting each other truly felt like a cosmic moment, and since that night, we’ve continued choosing each other every day. ♥
