We Are Getting Married!

We were introduced to each other one afternoon during tennis practice at Market our sophomore year. Our coach introduced us since Jose would be joining our team. We soon after became really good friends, best friends to be completely honest. Before we knew it, our feelings for each other grew and our friendship blossomed into something beautiful. On September 21, 2010, Jose and I were seniors and just before tennis practice, he asked me to be his girlfriend.

It’s been 8 years and throughout life’s up and downs, there is only one thing that I’m certain of: I’m grateful to be in love with my best friend, Gaby. We’ve been there for each other with anything and everything. Sometimes it feels like if it was Jose & Gaby vs the World. Throughout the years I’ve always just been thinking and waiting for the right time to ask her to marry me, before I knew it several years had passed and I was still waiting. It finally hit me like a bag of bricks, “You’re in love with your best friend and she’s in love with you; she’s smart, caring, funny, beautiful, and so much more. What are you waiting for, Dummy?”. I drove to the store and I just some how knew which ring was perfect for her. After a great movie and dinner, I took her to the park to listen to some music and watch a light show. I knew it would be the perfect place to ask her to be mine. As we walked into the middle of all the lights, I could feel my heart beating out of my chest and felt more nervous than as if I was the musician on stage performing. When we were right in the middle of all the colored lights, I got down on one knee and asked her, “Will you marry me?”. With tears of joy running down her face, I felt like the luckiest man in the world to hear her say “Yes!”.
