How We Met

We always say, "we met on an app called Clubhouse.. have you heard of it?"

Gabi and Eddie met on Clubhouse, an audio-only social app that was popular during Covid lockdown. Gabi had just moved out of her New York City studio apartment that she had lived in all throughout her time at FIT, and was back in Miami living with her parents, when one night she joined a Clubhouse room called "Unkosher Jews." A dumb name they both admit, but they knew at least they'd be meeting some Jewish people in there. About an hour into the conversation, Gabi heard a cute British accent and immediately started paying attention. Gabi's eyes followed Eddie's profile picture with the pulsing ring around it, indicating that someone named "Ed Davis" was speaking. That's right, Eddie's Clubhouse name was Ed Davis and that's how Gabi addressed him, until a few months went by and he politely corrected her. Gabi took note of Eddie and began going on to Clubhouse each night in the hopes that he'd also be online, and would follow him into every room he went, always hoping he'd notice her. Their friendship took off when they realized that they both had grandfathers in the fashion business--Gabi's grandfather was in the shoe business, and Eddie's had a womenswear line called Davisella. That was when Eddie invited Gabi to chat in a separate room because he wanted to hear more about it. Soooo anyway, they enjoyed talking to each other and a connection quickly grew as they began speaking on FaceTime every day. Seven months later, after the international covid travel ban was lifted, Eddie flew to New York so that they could meet in person for the first time. They had the most incredible weekend, finally able to spend time together in person, until the chaotic last couple of hours when they unexpectedly had to run around Murray Hill trying to find Eddie a TSA-approved Covid test so that he could board his flight back to London. Later that month, Gabi flew to London to stay with Eddie and meet his friends and family. Ever since, they both have been traveling back and forth, and to everyone's astonishment, they've made it work. Two Jewish people, living across the world from each other, born 20 years apart, who met online, and here you are reading this on their wedding website! We can't wait to celebrate with you!!
