Question

When should I arrive to Colombia / plan to leave by?

Answer

We are so excited that you are coming! We encourage guests to try to plan to arrive on Thursday, August 6th, and plan to leave on Monday, August 10th. Please see the "Travel" section of the website for additional information.

Question

Do I need a Visa to travel to Colombia?

Answer

No, a visa is not required for any trips to Colombia that are less than 90 days. All you need is a valid passport! Additional information about travelling to Colombia can be found by copy-pasting the following website into your browser: https://colombia.travel/en/practical-information/visas-and-embassies

Question

What is the weather like in Monguí?

Answer

Monguí is a beautiful town high up in the mountains of Colombia. As such, the weather is a little chillier than you might expect. Think high 70s (thin shirt/light jacket) during the days and 40s to low 60s at night (thin shirt/thicker jacket or sweater/thin jacket). When in doubt, layer!

Question

Is there anything else I should know about going to Monguí?

Answer

Monguí is a picturesque, small town that is entirely walkable. Although it is walkable, please note that those walks may be up and down various hills, so you may need to bring some comfy walking shoes. Spanish is the primary language that is spoken (Hello, Duolingo). Monguí is located at an elevation of approximately 9,500 feet above sea level in the Andes mountains. As such, please take extra care in staying hydrated, wearing sunscreen, and being mindful of your body's needs at this high altitude. Colombians actually follow 11 Commandments, not ten. The 11th commandment being, "no dar papaya" (Don't freely give out your papayas). Although Monguí is a very safe town, please do not put yourself in a position where others may easily take advantage of you (e.g., wallet hanging out of pocket, phone laying several feet out of eyeshot). Better safe than sorry!

Question

Is there a dress code for the wedding?

Answer

Dress to impress! We are requesting a formal dress code for the evening. For ladies, this means floor-length dresses, elegant tea-length or midi dresses, or dressy jumpsuits. For gentlemen, this means a full suit. As mentioned earlier, the weather will likely be around 60 degrees, more or less, so plan accordingly. Be sure to pack whatever heels/shoes you feel comfortable dancing the night away in! (P.S. Let's do it right and don't wear white... If you have any doubt that your cream or champagne dress may be too close to white, it's too white.)

Question

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony will take place indoors in the Basilica. Following the ceremony, the reception will take place both indoors and outdoors. Heaters will be placed strategically outdoors, but the majority of the reception will take place indoors.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

We are happy to provide transportation after the wedding ceremony in Monguí to our reception venue. We will also be providing shuttle transportation back to Monguí after the party.

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

In order to plan the most wonderful weekend for everyone, only formally invited guests will be accommodated. If you received a plus one, they will appear on the formal wedding invitation and the RSVP section of the website.
