The brides' given first names are Grace Ann and Gerry. However, Gerry has gone by her middle name, Elise, since birth. She took to using her first name more often when she studied abroad in India and currently uses both without much preference for one over the other. Grace Ann has gone by her given name, but adopted "Bernie" in highschool, the nickname deriving from her last name, Burr. She now uses this name among some of her friends, while her family and others use the name Grace Ann. Gerry calls Grace Ann, "Bernie," and Grace Ann calls Gerry, "Elise," so these were the names we used for the header on the wedding website. We love you all just the same no matter what you call us, but now, you hopefully know who we're talking about!
Most of those who know Grace Ann, or her family in general, know tabletop games are a huge part of her life and she loves playing and collecting them. So Elise knew when she decided to get a ring that she wanted games to be part of the proposal. So, on what seemed like a typical family game night at the Burr's, Elise brought a card identical to a trap card from Bernie's favorite board game, 13 Dead End Drive. Instead of one of the game's traps, this card, thanks to the artistic talents of Patrick Cannon, had a picture of a ring. When the card was pulled during the game, Elise got down on one knee and asked her to marry her. Then, they finished playing the game, occasionally taking short pauses when one of the fiances were caught staring at the ring.
