We're getting married!

Gianna and Nidhish met during the spring semester of freshman year of college in a Biology II class (shoutout Dr. Wilson!!) and quickly became friends. They stayed good friends for the next 2 years before Nidhish finally asked her out on a date. For the date, he wanted to take her somewhere in TX where the stars were visible, since she loved seeing the clear, beautiful night sky in her home state of New Mexico. He made her these firefly jar lights for her room as a gift, and then they drove about an hour outside of the metroplex to a "dark sky" site for some stargazing. It was going great until about 20 minutes in, when they heard spooky noises and creepy laughter coming from the field of high grass next to where they were stargazing. Needless to say, they immediately drove back to Dallas. They ended up at a late dinner at Hopdoddy's with Nidhish's roommates/best friends and their significant others at the time and all had a great time. The lesson Gianna learned from date #1- spending quality time with Nidhish inevitably involves one or more of his best friends being there too.

For a long time, Nidhish knew he wanted to design Gianna's engagement ring if he could as a way to make the occasion more special for her. Taking inspiration from the engagement and anniversary rings of Gianna's grandparents, who had been married for over 60 years and were relationship goals for the young couple, Nidhish worked with a designer in Seattle to custom design Gianna's dream ring based on designs, stones, and materials she liked. When Nidhish decided to propose to Gianna on his family's trip to visit Gianna's family in Taos, NM, both sides of the family were thrilled. Of course, Gianna had no clue everyone was scheming. As an added lucky bonus, somehow she got inceptioned into herself suggesting that we all go visit the proposal location on the exact day and time that Nidhish had already planned to get her to that spot. On that snowy Friday afternoon, the families drove out to one of Gianna's favorite trails near the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. They walked out to a spot Nidhish and co. had scoped out the previous day, and under the pretense of "taking a new year's photo", Nidhish convinced Gianna to stand there with him and get their photo taken. Gianna was confused why everyone had their cameras out to take photos but chalked it up to "them being weird." Nidhish got down on one knee, and now here we are almost a year later. Gianna's favorite part about this whole proposal was that Nidhish bought their dog Chaco a bandana that said "My humans are getting married." No seriously, her face showed way more joy when she saw Chaco wearing that bandana than during the proposal. The timing was perfect too, because as soon as they headed back to the house, Taos got about a foot of snow. That snowy background did serve up some fantastic post-engagement photos though!
