We first met outside of a committee room at the Indiana Statehouse during our internship with the Indiana House of Representatives. It was a quick introduction — nothing more than a passing moment during the busy Session. It wasn’t until after Session wrapped up that we really started talking and spending time together. What started as casual hangouts with our friends Dolan and Kayla at our favorite spot, Loughmillers (just across the street from the Statehouse), quickly turned into something more. We’d talk for hours about everything from music and racing to our shared love for dogs. It didn’t take long before we realized there was something more between us than just a shared table and mutual friends. Our first official date was at the cozy little Mexican restaurant by Aaron’s house — the same one we still go to every Friday. It’s become a small tradition that reminds us of where we started, and how lucky we were to find each other when we least expected it. What began in the halls of the Statehouse turned into a lifelong partnership — and we can’t wait to continue our story together.
After a long day at a work conference, all Amber wanted was Mexican food. But when she walked in the door, Aaron shouted from the kitchen that he needed help with their dog, Odin. Since Odin had recently broken off his leash, Amber panicked—still in her work clothes, winter coat, and holding the mail. She rushed in, only to find Aaron all dressed up... and Odin wearing a bandana that said, “Will you marry my dad?” Amber didn’t realize what was going on at first—she was too busy checking if Odin was okay—but once she figured it out, it was perfect. Aaron had even planned dinner afterward at Cooper’s Hawk with their friends Audra, JR, Haleigh, Dolan, and Anna. It was sweet, thoughtful, a little chaotic... and totally us.
