I still remember the 1st time I saw Stephen — it was the 2nd day of our major & he was walking past me carrying his old JanSport backpack. I knew immediately there was something special about him. Fast forward a year when he showed up to a party at my house with his sister, Christine, & she was wearing a London sweatshirt. I knew he had just gotten back from studying there & asked if he had gotten it for her. She said that he had and had also sent her a postcard from every place he had been to that summer. I thought to myself "anyone who treats his sister this way would be the most amazing husband" (I later realized that that was the moment that I fell in love with Stephen). I talked to him as much as possible that night & when I woke up the next morning realized that I had to formulate a plan to make him mine (cue "I want you to want me"). The next 6 mos are a blur of mixed signals, daily awkward visits to Stephen's job, gushing about him to anyone who would listen to me & a lottttt of random parties thrown at the yellow submarine (my college home) in hopes that Stephen would attend & be wooed by me. After almost giving up on multiple occasions, Stephen came to my b-day party & stayed up all night talking with me. When he left & still hadn't professed his love for me I wanted to retreat but my sister told me to go after what I wanted. I decided to say how I felt in a text exchange (I'm a coward–but it was cute–look in the photo section for a screenshot). 1 day & 1 Office Power Hour later, we were inseparable & have been ever since! 4.5 years, 2 graduations, 2 states, 8 apartments, 33 roommates, 5 jobs & a million amazing memories later Stephen proposed to me on top of the most beautiful mountain in Ireland. The story of how we got off that mountain is pretty incredible, you should ask us about it sometime. It was seriously such an adventure—as are most of my stories since I met Stephen—& I'm so excited that now I get to share a lifetime full of them with him!
Megan is going to start off by saying that for years she pursued me and that I was just oblivious to her moves. However, for the record I was just playing hard to get. As everyone knows, we started dating in college, her senior year my junior year and we were in the same major so she would make up excuses to come see me at work in the equipment room. Fortunately, we lived literally across the street from one another. After Megan's graduation, Megan says that I "unquestionably" said we'd continue dating even though we didn't know where Megan would be. Luckily, she stayed another year in Tallahassee working at the Chirch creating their media programs. Once I graduated, I knew I would leave Tallahassee and had dreams of working on movies in New York. Megan insisted that, "if I don't go to New York now, I never will" and with her encouragement I left and we made long distance work for 6 months after which, without a job or home, Megan moved up to New York to be with me. Since then, we've grown in our love until finally I asked her to marry me in Ireland on July 23nd, 2017. It's just the typical Jim and Pam story.
