We met at college. We were friends, actually, more like acquaintances, we knew of each other but didn't really talk to one another or hang out. Well, there was that one day when we sat beside each other at Sargent (Oke's senior year, my junior year) and Oke tried to convince me to come to the Alpha Ball by pulling out a wrinkled transcript and saying that studying (my excuse for not going) wasn't really important because regardless of what I thought about my grades I would still get a job post-graduation. Wasn't feeling the wrinkled transcript but went to the ball and had fun.....FAST FORWARD AFTER GRADUATION. We randomly ran into each other a couple years after graduation and I invited him to my 23rd birthday party. He showed and I along with some friends had a great time at a ratchet club in Chicago. Fast forward a few weeks later and my car battery is dead. I shoot Oke a text and ask if he could give me a jump. He mentions that's he's not in the area but if I still need one in a few hours he would swing by. What he didn't mention was that he did not have jumper cables and actually went to buy some in order to be able to jump my car. In the meantime, someone else jumped my car.....STORY TO BE CONTINUED!

We went to college together but our paths didn't cross much on campus. I think our longest conversation at Northwestern was me insisting she take a break from the books and come to my fraternity's homecoming ball, my SENIOR year. The Ball was dope of course. I'm sure she had a good time. Our paths didn't cross again until a couple years later in Chicago. We learned our birthdays were a few days apart (21st and 24th) and invited each other to our celebrations. Although she didn't come to mine, I decided to go to hers. We had good Chicago birthday fun. A few weeks later we had a moment over jumper cables. Funlola needed a jump. I wasn't close nor did I have cables, but told her I'd be around later if she didn't find someone to help. Beyond the immediate need, the cables were just good to have so I grabbed some. She managed to get her car jumped and we didn't even meet up that day. I won't be cheesy and draw parallels between jumper cables and relationships, but unbeknownst to me that gesture went a long way. I would even say it was the spark that got all this in motion. We've been connected to one another ever since! I still got the cables by the way...
