It all started with a song: “A Zip and a Double Cup” by Juicy J, to be precise. It was their junior year of high school and Mrs. Baird's English class had just wrapped up. Shane was singing along to this song when Fountane approached him and said that she had just listened to it that morning. Shane promptly exited the classroom without a word. But shortly thereafter, they began messaging each other (Fountane, again, the one to initiate things), recommending music that increasingly became a subtext for their growing feelings for each other. On January 1st, 2014, they made it Facebook official! Since then, Fountane and Shane have had the privilege of growing together and learning with and from each other over the past eleven years. They’ve gone on countless adventures. They’ve travelled to Canada, Hong Kong, and Thailand, roadtripped throughout the Pacific North West and all over the West Coast, driven from Maryland to Oregon, and visited ten national parks (so far!). They became foster fails and adopted two bonded, rambunctious chihuahuas, Minnie and Mickey. They even made a brief but ultimately unsuccessful foray into veganism. They’ve evolved from cooking their poorly rated spaghetti and store-bought teriyaki meatballs (with RAGÚ® sauce and shredded cheddar cheese to boot) to cooking a slightly better but much messier, more expensive, and more time-consuming spaghetti with a homemade bolognese and meatballs. After three and a half long years of Shane living in Canada, they are finally living together again in Portland and will be soon moving to Madison, WI, where Fountane will be completing her ophthalmology residency and Shane will be doing … something (TBD)! Many more adventures await them in the future, with many more memories to make! On December 20th, 2023, Shane (finally) popped the question after getting lost in the woods! Now, they are ready to begin this exciting new chapter of their lives and they are thrilled to have you there for the its commencement!
