When it was suggested that JC and I get to know each other, I was hesitant. Despite having mutual friends through different church ministries, the idea of a “blind date” so to say was not exactly up my alley. Regardless, JC and I started texting back and forth. After about a week, we had our first date on August 27th; dinner at Plaza Azteca. Dinner went better than expected with easily flowing conversation. At the very least, it seemed that a nice friendship could be developed between us if nothing else. Our second date happened quicker than either of us expected as I helped JC set up for his church’s annual flea market the morning after our first date. Much less was said that day as we were both busy setting things up, but it was still a fun day. Saturday was the flea market and, out of character for me, I took a personal day to help. According to JC, this was the day he decided he was going to end it because he did NOT like me making sure he stayed hydrated and ate throughout the day. Guess it is a good thing he decided not to. We never slowed down after that first week. Every week since that first date, we have spent some time together at least 3-4 days per week. Dates became less about going and “doing something” and more about being together while doing what we need to get done. Running errands and going with JC to his various ministries throughout the week quickly became our routine; not that either of us complained about that. We were just happy to have time together. Somewhere around a month in, JC and I started having more serious conversations about our future together. A promise ring was designed and ordered, and JC spoke to my father about his intentions. Except various delays prolonged the ring’s arrival for 2 months and by that time, JC and I both knew we wanted it to be more than just a promise ring. We knew we wanted to be together. So, after talking to my parents again, JC proposed on November 29th in front of my parents and siblings. Definitely an unforgettable moment for all of us! Is it fast? To some maybe but for JC and me, the timing has felt perfectly designed from the start. Here's to a future of bright future, full of creating more beautiful memories together. Genesis 2:22-24 ~ "Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh."
