Things To Do

Mystic has been a special place for Emily’s family since they moved to Connecticut in 1997 and she has loved getting to share the area with Kevin. We can’t wait to celebrate with friends and family in such a special place. We have some recommendations of places to see and things to eat while in the area.

Mystic

Stonington, CT

Downtown Mystic has a great assortment of shops and restaurants in a picturesque setting along the Mystic river. Put the Mystic Museum of Art in your GPS to navigate to parking.

Mystic Seaport Museum

75 Greenmanville Avenue, Stonington, CT 06355

A favorite in the Fry family. If you love history museums and old wooden ships, this is the place for you!

Mystic Aquarium

55 Coogan Boulevard, Stonington, CT 06355

If you didn’t go to the Mystic Aquarium for an elementary school field trip, it’s worth a visit! The beluga whales are a highlight, along with the penguins.

Bluff Point State Park

55 Depot Road, Groton, CT 06340

Only a ten minute drive from the Mystic Marriott, Bluff Point State Park offers a variety of hiking trails along the undeveloped Connecticut shoreline. Out of state cars have to pay a $10-$15 entry fee.

Florence Griswold Museum

96 Lyme Street, Old Lyme, CT 06371

Located about 30 minutes from Mystic, the Florence Griswold museum tells the story of the American art colony once located on the site that was crucial in the development of American impressionism.

Sift Bake Shop Mystic

5 Water Street, Groton, CT 06355

Be prepared to wait in line, especially in the summer. That said, the croissants and danishes are well worth the wait. Try the ham and cheese croissant or the cheese and guava danish. Or the chocolate croissant. Or the ebbioche. It's all delicious.

The Mystic Diner & Restaurant

253 Greenmanville Avenue, Stonington, CT 06355

Classic diner setting with an elevated diner breakfast.

Kitchen Little

36 Quarry Road, Stonington, CT 06355

Located in the Mason’s Island section of Mystic on the water. Small dining room, be prepared to wait, with a great view. Pancakes, benedicts, and omelettes, this place has it all.

Captain Scott's Lobster Dock

80 Hamilton Street, New London, CT 06320

Maine gets all the credit for the lobster roll, but the Connecticut version of the lobster roll is really elite. The Connecticut version is served on a toasted bun and drenched in butter. One of the best seafood shacks is just over the Thames river in New London. BYOB setting and enjoy your meal at a picnic table overlooking the water.

Sea Swirl

30 Williams Avenue, Stonington, CT 06355

Seafood shack in Mystic. Lobster rolls (only served cold) and all the fried seafood offerings you could want. Great ice cream, the best soft serve ice cream in Mystic.

Dog Watch Cafe

194 Water Street, Stonington, CT 06378

Dog Watch in Stonington is right on the water and while you might have a bit of a wait, they do have lawn games to play by the bar to pass the time. A full service restaurant with plenty of offerings, the lobster roll is great.

Red 36

2 Washington Street, Stonington, CT 06355

Full service restaurant with a great outdoor bar and views of the water. Plenty of things to choose from, they make an excellent lobster roll. Very scenic!

Oyster Club

13 Water Street, Groton, CT 06355

This James Beard nominated restaurant focuses on a farm to table menu, including a variety of local oysters. Have a meal in the inside dining room or grab a drink and check out their more casual outdoor space upstairs, the Treehouse.

Engine Room

14 Holmes Street, Stonington, CT 06355

Great place for a burger and a beer, or a cocktail.

Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream

2 West Main Street, Groton, CT 06355

Best place to get ice cream in Mystic! Incredibly unique flavors overlooking the river, next to the drawbridge. It's worth a wait in line.
