Our Invisible StringOur Invisible String

Our story is one of brilliant coincidence, perfect timing, and life changing luck. Running back to the start, it began as we gathered with mutual friends on a late November evening—we didn’t know each other yet, and didn’t officially meet that night, but in a moment of shining serendipity a group picture was taken (on Zack’s phone!) as the evening drew to a close. We noticed each other as the picture wove its way across convos with friends and assorted socials. The threads drawing us together were visible for the first time, but at that point they were simply a wink from the future. Another two years passed before we spoke for the first time. Despite the wait between our first picture and first words, momentum quickly picked up the next time we met. Zack was given control over music at a party and asked if anyone liked drum and bass… and Emily was the only one who stood up (actually, she jumped). Luckily that was more than enough, and after learning we shared impeccable music taste, conversation sparked and we chatted the night away. Over the next few months we continued meeting, but it was never planned and always due to a perfect mix of timing and luck. Although we didn’t keep up with one another during the times in between, we eventually both moved to Charlotte, separately and unknowingly from one another within the same week. Following our moves to Charlotte, we found out the universe was drawing us together yet again, so naturally we had to go on a date. Zack was a little nervous so he invited a few cars worth of people (including one of his cousins) to the White Water Center for a small summer concert. Following an amazing time and striking charisma our first official date (shoutout Glass Animals) was planned and a handful of days later we were (finally) dating. Three years later (on a late night in the middle of June) we got engaged as one of the best sunsets we’ve seen painted the sky above the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville. The area holds a special place in our hearts—it’s where we spent one of our first weekends as a couple and where we celebrated our first anniversary—so if you’re reading this, we couldn’t be more excited to welcome you this fall as we continue our tradition of celebrations in Asheville and kick off one of the most exciting chapters of our story yet.
