This is where Sarah and I first met, and to date remains one of our favourite treat spots in Houston. Try their chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon rolls, Milk & Cookies ice cream, or brookies!
Go for the margaritas, stay for the filet fajitas. There are multiple locations all over Houston and you can't go wrong with any of them, they have THE BEST filet fajitas in Houston, and they're worth every penny.
A great spot for solid Texas-style BBQ, highly recommend the brisket, jalapeno cheddar sausage, and elote!
Our favourite place for burgers in the entire city! You can't go wrong with their milkshakes either.
A beautiful, expansive park in Houston easily accessible from I-10/610, walk through the wonderfully curated trails and enjoy the flowers & local wildlife.
Buffalo Bayou is a gorgeous bayou that has an awesome walking/running trail following it for miles through Houston. Parking can be a little difficult off of Allen Parkway just FYI, but well worth a visit!
Hermann Park is a gorgeous park with a reflection lake, grassy hills dotted with trees, several walking/running/biking trails, even an outdoor theatre! Alex & Sarah have spent sunny days reading under a tree, throwing a frisbee, or going for a walk around Hermann Park.
A little on the riskier side with COVID, but one of Houston's best museums located in the heart of the Museum District (and also right by Hermann Park if you decide to visit the park!). From dinosaurs to Mars, and everything in between!
One of Alex & Sarah's favourite spots on a pretty day. A smaller park than Memorial or Hermann, it offers several walk-up food spots, park benches & park chairs, playground-esque equipment for kids, a dog park, and one of Alex & Sarah's all-time favourite places: Slowpokes.
A little riskier when it comes to COVID, but the MFA is huge and offers tons of different kinds of art, including a rotating exhibit from a famous artist (last one they had was Van Gogh!).
They have been closed intermittently with restrictions on bars in Houston, but Camerata is one of our favourite wine bars in town. Its intimate, classy ambience and ever-changing wine list make it a must-visit if you're a fan of good wine and community!
Rice University has a beautiful campus and an awesome walking/running trail (approx 3.4mi) around the campus, shaded by big, beautiful trees. It, and the closeby North & South Blvd, are some of the most scenic areas of Houston. Alex used to live near Rice and it was his go-to running trail.
