Air BNB Search

There are many gites in the Area and Air BNB is active. Make sure you search in the town of "Saint-Privat des-Pres" (It might auto populate with Saint-Privat-des-Prés, Saint Privat en Périgord, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France and this is exactly where you want to search). This is the town nearest the Chateau. If you just search "Saint-Privat" you will end up somewhere in the South of France near Spain.

Flight

Air France

Bordeaux is the closest airport to the Chateau. Lots of ways to get to the Chateau: fly into Paris and come down Bordeaux or Perigueux by train, Fly directly to Bordeaux (likely connecting through London or Paris), Fly into any airport in France rent a car and drive to the chateau.

Train

Trains in France

You can get everywhere in France by Train, sometimes fast, sometimes slow. The TGV is fast (and often goes long distances) The TER is slow (and regional). The TGV will take you to and from Paris to most of the major big cities in France. The TER will take you on to the smaller villages and towns. The RER and the Metro are regional around Paris, you can use these to get to and from the airport, go to Disney land, or any of the outlying suburbs of Paris SNCF has a great app and easy website set up an account and away you go! The Adult and child discount cards are a great deal if you will be taking more than one train (and essentially pay for themselves)

Rental Car

Rental Cars in France

There are many different rental car companies in France - if you use one common in the US (Enterprise, Avis, Hertz Etc - available in most major cities) it works pretty much the same in France. France also has Eurocar and other european rental car companies. If you can't drive a manual - make sure you are renting an automatic. The roads in France are small - a big car will be a big pain! No one has ever asked us for an international drivers license - US drivers license is enough

Travel Note

Travel Notes

The closest airport to the wedding is Bordeaux. That is a nice regional airport with all of the major car rental places. The closest major train station is Bordeaux, however, depending on where you are coming from in France, Perigeuex station is another option. The easiest way to get to the Chateau is by car from either Bordeaux or Perigeuex.
