Towards the end of 2020, we were set up by our mutual friends, Karen and Jeremy (a couple). Chelsea became friends with Karen in 2015 at her first job post-college. Tim befriended Jeremy while they attended college at Kent State. Together, Karen and Jeremy thought we'd be a good match, as we both "play instruments and are hipster-adjacent." On December 31, 2020, we had our first date: A virtual lunch date. We hit it off and decided to meet in person. Our first in-person date was at Merwin's Wharf's plastic (emphasis on plastic) ice skating rink. We both thought we'd impress the other with our ice skating skills. We were quickly humbled. After about 10 minutes of struggling, we both admitted defeat, nervously laughed it off, and decided to talk instead. The pandemic forced us inside for our relationship—we got to know each other quickly between conversations, watching all of Game of Thrones, and playing board games. Before long, we realized we were looking for the same things in a partner and in life. So six months after meeting, we moved in together (and Chelsea's cat, Pumpkin, too)! Chelsea appreciated Tim's kindness, his acceptance and full-hearted support of her health and dietary needs, his optimism, and his willingness to always read and explain the rules of new board games. Tim appreciated Chelsea's values, her extremely strong will, her openness to discuss difficult topics, and providing him the opportunity to be a cat dad. After 16 months of knowing each other, we were both eager to spend the rest of our lives together. There was no formal proposal. We both said yes to the other and decided to get rings and set a wedding date! Now here we are. :) We can't wait to celebrate with you at our wedding reception in September!
