Flight

Querétaro International Airport (QRO) and Del Bajío International Airport (BJX)

The two closest airports to San Miguel de Allende are Querétaro International Airport (QRO) and Del Bajío International Airport (BJX). QRO is slightly closer and about a 1 hour drive to SMA. BJX is just under 1.5 hours. Both are great options, so just book for whatever airport is best for your time/budget preferences. We typically hire a car service (details below), but taxis are very safe and available at both airports should you like. The costs are around $40 - $60 USD for a one way trip to SMA. You can pay at the taxi counter just outside the doors after you clear Mexican customs.

Flight

Mexico City International Airport (MEX)

Mexico City is about a 3-4 hour drive to San Miguel de Allende pending traffic. While we recommend flying into QRO or BJX, if you do want to spend some time in Mexico City (one of our favorite cities!) before/after our wedding you can easily hire a car service or shared shuttle.

Prices between SMA and BJX/QRO are as follows: Sedan (3 passengers): $85 USD Suburban (6 passengers): $115 USD Van (9 passengers): $145 USD Prices between SMA and MEX start at $215 USD. All prices are for one-way transportation. Payment will be handled directly with the driver and they accept cash (USD or MXN) as well as credit card. If you choose to pay with credit card please let Daniel know so his drivers can bring the payment processing machine.

BajioGo Shared Shuttle Service

This is a reliable shared shuttle service you can book prior to your arrival. Door-to-Door service from BJX or QRO to San Miguel de Allende starts at $25 USD per passenger. Travel from MEX starts at $75 USD per passenger. Please visit the website to book or call (202) 609 9905.

Rental Cars

While you are certainly welcome to rent a car, it is definitely not necessary for your stay in San Miguel de Allende. San Miguel is an extremely walkable town with charming (but difficult to drive on) narrow, cobblestone streets and limited parking. Cabs are abundant and incredibly cheap, so you shouldn't have any issues getting around. However, if you do choose to rent a car, please be extra cautious when driving, especially outside of the cities and at night as the police aren't always as trustworthy as one would hope.... which we learned the hard way!
